This Weight

This weight is weighing on my heart

This weight is tearing us apart

This weight is weighing on my soul

Just won’t leave me alone

Van Morrison

The days have been heavy. There are burdens weighing on my heart. Some for others, some for our world, some for myself. So much threatens to weigh me down.

It’s a tricky thing to figure out…how much weight can we carry for others? How much is too much to carry alone? What is mine to carry and mine to walk away?

I believe we are called to share the burdens of others. But how much? Is there a weight limit? I can’t bare them all.

There are simple Bible verses which come to mind about casting our burdens on God because he cares for us and yet…..

We pick them up again and again.

  1. Debby, these are good questions. I hear ya’, friend. God is faithful to show us what to carry, how, and when. Thankfully, He is the Savior, the Cure Giver, the Miracle Worker.

That takes the pressure off us to figure everything out. I’m so grateful …

    1. Things have been challenging in our family with sadness and sorrow mixed in. The only way we see our way through is by knowing we have a loving and merciful Savior. There’s another song by Van Morrison that says, “sometimes we cry”. There have been many tears shed and will be more but they don’t extinguish our hope. Thank you for your gentle words of assurance, Linda.

  2. Sometimes the weight is VERY heavy for ourselves and others.
Thankful God is ALWAYS with us and the love of family and friends help us carry the weight. For this I am thankful.

    1. Thank you, Betsy, for the reminder I, we, are not alone. You have always been a blessing to me.

  3. You have a friend in me walking beside you. Trust your instincts to rest when you need to, share burdens, and ask for help. Prayer always strengthens me.

    1. Your words bring tears to my eyes, feeling your prayers in your words. ♡

  4. Grateful for your authenticity as a reminder that we are never alone in the weights we carry.

    1. I am so very thankful for knowing I am not alone. xx
